About Woodlawn Christian School
WCS is dedicated to the training of children in a safe, nurturing, and challenging program of study and life that is Christ-centered. Our goal is to have parents, teachers, and the church partner together in a positive manner to provide students with the maximum opportunity to learn and grow.
We are an Anabaptist school that was founded with a vision for high educational effectiveness and a strong Biblical emphasis. WCS is a place where Christ is preeminent, where the Bible is presented as the only Word of God, and where parents have the opportunity for involvement in their child’s education.
We encourage parents to be involved in classes and school activities including art, class parties, verse challenge, library, and field trips. Parents assist with school cleaning and serving hot lunch meals.
We send our children to WCS to:
- Be taught Biblical truths
- Thrive in a loving, Christ-centered atmosphere
- Share God’s love with others
- Memorize Scripture
- Develop friendships
- Grow academically and spiritually
- Be encouraged to learn to the best of their abilities
- Experience growth with their peers
Academics
WCS realizes that students have unique and varying academic needs. We strive to provide the support to help each student learn in the best possible way. WCS offers combined classroom settings with a small student to teacher ratio. Our teachers have a love for God, a passion for teaching and a desire to help all students succeed. Students are presented with many opportunities to work together through group projects, school programs, community outreach and multigrade chapel groups.
Our core curriculum is Abeka. We use Living History in first through sixth grade, and a variety of electives are offered to our high school students. High school electives may vary each year depending on student interest and teacher availability. Some of the electives offered are:
